Results of EPA soil sampling around theThompson Hayward site on February 17, 2006

     A total of nine soil samples were collected and analyzed for pesticides in the area of the Thompson Hayward site by the Environmental Protection Agency on February 17, 2006.  The following is a description of the locations sampled and the pesticides at each location that exceeded the Department of Environmental Quality RECAP standard values.

 

     Eight of the nine soil samples exceeded one or more RECAP standard values.  A total of 18 Pesticides were detected in the soil samples. Of the 18 pesticides detected, 8 pesticides were present in one or more soil sample in concentrations that exceeded RECAP standard values.  Dieldrin was present in excess of the RECAP standard value at 8 of the 9 locations sampled.

 

Colapissa Street between Lowerline and Burdett (Sample 19936)

Aldrin 44.3 ug/kg Exceeded RECAP (28 ug/kg) by 1.6 times

 

Also contained detectable levels for 5 additional Pesticides.

Pine between Earhart Blvd. and Colapissa Street (Sample 19956)

Heptachlor 23.4 ug/kg Exceeded RECAP (16 ug/kg) by 1.5 times

Heptachlor Epoxide 235 ug/kg Exceeded RECAP (53 ug/kg) by 4.4 times

 

Also contained detectable levels of 14 additional Pesticides.

was the only sample location that did not exceed RECAP.  However, the location did contain detectable levels of 6 Pesticides.
